Welcome to the first official Easton Vacation Jiu-Jitsu Camp! We will be surfing and training jiu-jitsu in lovely Playa Venao, Panama. Playa Venao is home to one of the most consistent beach breaks in Panama with waves suitable for first time surfers looking to learn the fundamentals, to more advanced surfers looking to explore some of the best waves Central America has to offer. Hosted at Beach Break Surf Camp, it’s the perfect place for the whole family to learn to surf, hang out together, do BJJ, and unwind after the school year. Prof Easton’s last trip to Playa Venao was with 14 kids from ages 8-15 years old and everyone stood up on boards and had a ball. This is a camp for everyone! Those participating in Surf Camp with the Beach Break Staff will have up to 2 hours of surf instruction per day, plus video analysis, open board rentals, and a photo and video package of your surfing to take home with you. For those not surfing, there is a beachfront pool, beautiful beach/nature walks, and lounging/relaxing the days away.

Amal Easton is a veteran muay thai competitor and Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt under Renzo Gracie, regarded as a pioneering figure for the South American grappling style in the United States. A decorated grappler with numerous titles to his name, Easton is also known as one of the top instructors in the country having developed high end grapplers and mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters such as Shane Carwin, Elliott Marshall, Brendan Schaub, Nathan Marquardt and countless others.
Roberto “Gordo” Correa is one of the most important figures in Jiu Jitsu’s history. An important competitor during the 1990s, Correa later became one of the head instructors at the Gracie Barra academy, where he helped shape IBJJF world champion grapplers such as Celso Vinicius, Braga Neto, and many others. As a coach Roberto was sought out by many experts in the grappling game, champions like Kyra Gracie and Vinicius Magalhaes though his biggest contribution to the sport was the half guard, a specific position he developed as a purple belt.

This camp is open to ALL levels of experience, both in surfing and jiu-jitsu. First month training to seasoned black belt; never surfed before to Kelly Slater, come share your knowledge on the mats and in the waves!
Fly into Tocumen International Airport (PTY). Flights from DIA are currently $500 round trip on Copa Air with a nonstop flight departing Denver at 11 pm on Monday the 20th, arriving at Panama at 6 am on the 21st. Once landed and through customs, there will be several shuttle vans/buses to bring our group out to the beach (shuttles/buses will carry between 10 and 20 people each). You can upgrade to a private shuttle for just your family members, please let John know when signing up.
Our shuttle will bring folks home in the afternoon on Sunday the 26th or Tuesday the 28th depending on your package. We recommend spending one night in Panama City before flying back home the next day. The easiest option would be the Riande Airport Hotel or the Crowne Plaza Airport Hotel with their free airport shuttle service. Another option would be to stay at The Magnolia Inn or Central Hotel in Casco Viejo to enjoy some sightseeing and a nice dinner out before arranging for a taxi to the airport the next day.
Panama is currently not requiring a negative Covid test to enter the country if fully vaccinated (2 shots) and with filling out their Health Affidavit Form. To return to the US, you will need a negative antigen test done within 24 hours of arrival. Beach Break Surf Camp has a private lab they work with that will come to the hotel to do the tests on the day/ time needed to return. There are also approved home tests that can be used for your return that you can bring with you.
